AZEALIA BANKS
Azealia Banks is a 20 year old rapper from Harlem that i heard for the first time in my Rhetoric class today. She was named coolest person of 2011 by NME. I wouldn't say she is the coolest person, but i do have to say that this foul-mouthed rapper is a pretty cool chick. Her song 212 -which is about oral sex-caught my attention in class with its electro-rap beat and all i could imagine was myself dancing to her song in the club while singing along to her nasty lyrics (which i really don't mind) "i guess that cunt gettin' eaten". All i have to say is she definitely has me listening to her and i immediately went and downloaded the song. It also doesn't hurt that she has a very soulful singing voice.

I would like some Love After War
Robin Thicke unveiled the cover for his new album titled Love After War earlier this month. He recently released the songs "i'm an animal", "Love after war" and "Pretty lil' heart" featuring Lil' Wayne which is the only collaboration on the album. This is exciting because Robin Thicke and Lil' Wayne have collaborated before on one of my favorite Lil' Wayne songs "shooter". This album reminds me of an old school r'n'b album and i just love that concept. "I'm an animal" sounds like something out of the Motown era and "Pretty lil' thing" with Lil' Wayne is a sultry slow and sexy song. The newly released video for Love after war featured Robin Thicke's wife, actress Paula Patton which i thought was cute.

MISUNDERSTOOD!!!
Let me introduce you to Misunderstood, a South East London based Pop/R'n'B vocal duo. Their names are Jeffrey and Stephan and this group is very dear to my heart because Jeff is actually one of my close friends. Let me tell you right now that these boys are very talented and will definitely go on to do great things. Not only are they exceptional singers, they are also talented dancers which makes them the ultimate duo in my opinion. Break your neck is their first official single and i think it is just a little taste of what Misunderstood has to offer. This is a little snippet of their song Break your neck
Here is a link to the full song BREAK YOUR NECK!
. Listen to it, download it and share it!

Lotus Flower Bomb
First off, i think Wale is very underrated and should have way more recognition than he has right now. I think he is a lyrical genius and if you do not have the Ambition album, you need to go out and get it. My favorite song off the album is Lotus flower bomb feat Miguel. I just find it to be such a sexy song and Miguel's soothing vocals make it even sexier. The concept of the video was straight to the point and not overwhelming.

Shake it out
Dog days are over singer Florence Welch's first single off her sophomore album Ceremonials is absolutely fantastic. I love! love! love! this song and her second album is definitely an awesome one. Jillian Mapes from Billboard.com describes it best when she says "gothic, Celtic, bluesy, danceable rock: Sounds like a mess, yet quite the opposite -- due in part to Welch's hurtling vocals, some of the most bewitching in both the rock and pop worlds right now". The chorus of this song shows off her goth side when she says "it's hard to dance with the devil on your back, so shake him off". True that! Anyways, here is the video for shake it out.

Throw it up!!!
I don't have to say much but this is another single off Yelawolf's album radioactive. It features Memphis pioneer Gangsta Boo and of course the boss himself Eminem. This song represents the South and we all know how Yelawolf is all about his roots. I love the song but then again, i love anything by Yelawolf so...

Oh H-town how you haunt me ;)
I was in my rhetoric class today (the class i need this blog for) and Int'l players anthem by UGK was played by my instructor. Sadly we only listened to it till the first part of Pimp C's rap but that was enough to remind me of one of my favorite Z-RO songs, Top Notch. By the way Z-RO is a rapper from Houston that i have a love-hate relationship with. I am not a huge fan of his but once in a while he gets my approval and he got me with the song Top notch. I think it's because the hook uses my favorite quote by Pimp C -"Top notch hoes get the most not the lesser, trash like to f**k for forty dollars in the club". For those of you who don't know, this quote is from the song Int'l Players anthem.

Yelawolf Album Release Date!!!
Finally!! After pushing back the release date for his album Radioactive, from October 25th in order to put extra finishing touches to it, Yelawolf has finally set a date. The album is set to be released by GHET-O-VISION ENTERTAINMENT/SHADY RECORDS/DGC/INTERSCOPE on November 21st 2011. I am so excited and i feel like i have been waiting for this day to come for what seems like a lifetime. Nevertheless, i am very excited for him and i hope the album does very well. In the meantime, here is the second single off the album called Let's Roll feat. Kid Rock. It is more mellow than the first one and has a little country feel to it and i think it works very well.

UK STAND UP!!!!
I just had to do it and rep my people big time. So there was a UK cypher during the B.E.T hip-hop awards and it was called British bosses cypher. However, it only aired in the UK (shame). Anyways because i love the UK and i love my city, London big time, i decided to post it for you all to see. There is just too much talent flowing and i am so happy they got their own cypher. From Chipmunk to wretch 32 to Lady Leshurr and Mz Bratt. I know most of you probably don't know who they are but here's a chance for you to search for them and get into their music.

My favorite cyphers from the 2011 B.E.T hip-hop awards
I was watching the cyphers from the 2011 B.E.T hip-hop awards-which is the only reason why i watch it- and the cyphers this year were crazy. They had both indie rappers like Machine gun kelly and tech n9ne to international rappers like Soprano from Marseille,France. They also had Blind fury who won 106 & park's freestyle friday battle. I loved the fact that they also came up with innovative names for each cypher. In adddition to that, they also had rappers from one of my two favorite record labels-shady records and MMG-doing their own cyphers. I have to say the cyphers in this year's award were probably the best so far and i know this because i always watch the award show and i remember that last year's show was when the mainstream world was introduced to one of my favorite rappers Yelawolf (He dominated his cypher).
This first cypher is called indie meets mainstream and it features B.O.B, Big K.R.I.T, Machine gun kelly, Kendrick Lamar and tech n9ne.
Here's the second one called International Flow cypher
Here is the MMG cypher
Survival of the illest cypher
And yea i saved the best for last: Shady 2.0 cypher

Yelavision!!!!
The fact that i have loved Yelawolf since he was an underground artist gives me the right to say that i am very proud of the fact that he is now mainstream and has still stuck to his style. Being a White rapper these days can only get you compared to Eminem, not to talk of being a White Rapper from Alabama. So you can only imagine how ecstatic i was when i found out that he got signed by Eminem, my other favorite rapper under Shady Records. Seeing him on B.E.T introducing his new music video makes me feel like a proud mother. Why? you may ask? Well the reason is that before anybody really knew about Yelawolf, i loved his music and i actively made him known to a lot of people by jamming his songs loud in my car and also telling people across the world about him (Yeah i am international in case you didn't know). He has brought out a lot of mixtapes and this has definitely put a spotlight on him. Now, with the guidance of Eminem, Yelawolf can only go on to do greater things and bring out even more amazing songs. This is a video of his new single 'Hard White' (Up in the Club) ft Lil' Jon. ENJOY!!!!

Cole World!
J.Cole's debut album titled Cole World: The Sideline Story was dropped three days ago on September 27th. The album features artists like Trey Songz, Drake, Missy Elliot and Jay-z. He also released songs that did not make the album on the sundays leading to his album release. The mixtape is conveniently called Any Given Sunday and the songs were generously released to the public for free. I am sure that the Cole World album is great because the songs on this mixtape are awewsome and if they were not album material, i can only imagine how ridiculously awesome the tracks on the album are. Here are three different ep's containing the tracks that did not make the album.

DOMO GENESIS NEW MIXTAPE
so....Domo Genesis dropped his new mixtape called Under the Influence on September 20th. Domo collaborates with Uzi, Cardo and a couple of other people on the mixtape. On this mixtape, Domo has made a few stylistic changes that set him apart from his other Odd Future members and i like the fact that he decided to do this. He has definitely evolved and found his own style without loosing his identity as a stoner. Domo Genesis has proved that he has the ability to be a big star and i hope he keeps bringing out work of the same quality.
Tracks on the mixtape:

Maroon 5 - Moves Like Jagger ft. Christina Aguilera
Ever since the show The voice ended which had Adam Levine, the lead singer of Maroon 5 and Christina Aguilera as judges. I have been waiting to hear about a collaboration by both of them. So when i finally heard 'Moves like Jagger,' i was super excited. I downloaded it immediately and i am not ashamed to say that i play it in my car whenever i am driving to work. I love everything about the song from the upbeat tempo to Adam Levine shirtless in the video (which i am sure all the ladies will love)to both Adam and Christina's vocals. If i were to rate this song i'd give this song a ten out of ten just because this song got me to dance. <3 <3 <3

Before and After.....
So for you that do not know, there was a Tinie tempah before Pass out. He was based in the UK and was good so i can't say that coming to America made him better. He may have blown up because he got signed to a bigger record label, however, for people like me who grew up in the UK, he was already a good enough artist. Some of his songs before he got signed by Parlophone were "Tears", "Perfect GCD Hood Economics Room 147" and my favorite "wifey riddim". I remember listening to this song on the bus on my way to school. Getting signed to an American record label has made him a bigger star with better music videos and his new album Disc-Overy has a lot of great songs in it like "Written in the stars", "Frisky", "Miami 2 Ibiza", "Invincible" ft Kelly Rowland, "Till i'm gone" ft Wiz Khalifa and of course "Pass out".I liked him before and i still like him now, so i guess so far he hasn't done anything to lose me as a fan. I wish him the best of luck and hope that he continues to make great music.
Before...
... and after...

Evil? or Evil Genius?
So...Odd Future Wolf Gang Kill Them All(OFWGKTA)and Tyler the creator might be a controversial group but i have to say Tyler the creator's alternative rap style has grown on me. His sophomore album 'Goblin' has a couple of songs that have already caught my attention and as much as i hate to do it, i actually think i might go out and buy it. The fifteen track album is actually a very good one and some of the tracks on there are Analog, Tron Cat, Nightmare, Goblin, Yonkers and Transylvania. My favorite two songs on the album are 'She' ft Frank Ocean, and i love this song because of the way Tyler's rap goes so well with the voice of Frank Ocean. I also love 'her' which is a lot slower and tells a story of wanting a girl that was unavailable. As much i hate the fact that Tyler sometimes uses homophobic slurs and blasphems, i have to say that he is a musical genius and has started a different style of rap and all i can say is he can only get better from here on. Here is 'she' ft Frank Ocean because i think this is an awesome song.

How To Destroy A Song With Good Potential!
Unlike everybody else that love this song, i am actually not that into it. My reason behind this does not even have anything to do with the melody or lyrics of the song. It is just the simple fact that Lil Wayne SANG the song, keyword being the word 'sang'. I actually love the lyrics and the melody of the song, however, i don't understand why somebody who claims to be the best "rapper" alive would decide to sing a song. Apart from that, i don't want to hear about crooks stealing my heart when the artist singing the song has several babymamas and is probably the "crook" in question to a lot of women. I personally would have preferred the song if it was sang by a person who didn't have to use auto tune to carry a simple melody. Overall, it is a good song with a good message in it and Lil Wayne is a very good artist. For those that don't mind that Lil Wayne is probably not the most credible source to gain understanding on how a girl feels insecure because of being hurt several times, this is a good song to listen to.

Out of this World!
Eminem's Space bound off his 2010 album 'Recovery' reminds us that his talent and lyrical abilities are still in existence. The sounds of drums and tambourines fused perfectly with the guitar in the background takes you out of this world. The lyrics reminds me of a teenager trying to gain back the love and affection of his or her other half while at the same time making it known that he's been hurt. Eminem might have had a few mistakes with his two previous albums but he definitely outdid himself with Recovery. Space bound is one of my favorite songs on the album, and i enjoy the mellow sound mixed with the emotion of his voice while he is rapping. The sound of his voice and the lyrics pull you in to feel the pain that he is going through. He has definitely re-captured my attention with this song. Just like the lyrics of space bound says "i'm a space bound rocket ship and your heart's the moon, and i'm aiming right at you", he definitely aimed at me with this song and i am loving the feeling i get whenever i listen to it.
